Workplace Moves & Furniture Recovery

Keep what works. Plan what comes next. Review the furniture to retain, move, reconfigure or recover, then coordinate the agreed scope around your Greater Vancouver workplace change.

Office furniture and moving crates prepared for an organized workplace move and clearance
Illustrative workplace transition scene; not a completed DEARTREE project.

Start with the change, not the disposal.

A move, downsizing or lease exit creates a sequence of decisions. Review the assets first, choose the practical route for each group, then confirm labour, access, transport, timing and documentation in one written scope.

When the workplace changes.

The right service depends on the business situation. DEARTREE can coordinate a focused furniture scope independently or alongside new and pre-owned additions for the next space.

Moving or reconfiguring

Identify furniture that can be reused, relocated or reconfigured, then fill confirmed gaps without replacing useful assets by default.

Closing or downsizing

Build a clearance plan around access, building requirements, staging, labour, transport and the lease-exit date.

Surplus furniture

Review condition, quantity and market demand before assuming resale value or selecting donation, recycling or removal routes.

A practical route for each asset.

Useful furniture should not become a disposal problem simply because the workplace changed. Possible routes are assessed project by project and confirmed only in the written scope.

Keep and reuse

Retain suitable furniture in place or plan it into the next layout when dimensions, condition and compatibility work.

Relocate or reconfigure

Coordinate disassembly, moving, reconfiguration and installation where the approved furniture and site conditions allow.

Recovery or resale assessment

Review commercial value based on brand, model, condition, quantity, demand, access, timing and the cost of handling.

Donation, recycling or removal

Consider other available routes when feasible. Destination or outcome documentation is provided only when included in the written project scope.

From site review to closeout.

A clear sequence reduces last-minute decisions and helps facilities, operations and project teams see what is included before the work begins.

01

Review the assets

Share photographs or an inventory, quantities, location, floor access, target date and building requirements. A site walk may be recommended.

02

Set the routing plan

Group items by the intended route: keep, move, reconfigure, assess for recovery, or include in another feasible removal path.

03

Confirm the written scope

Define labour, transport, disassembly, staging, access, dates, possible recovery value, exclusions and any required documentation.

04

Complete and close out

Coordinate the agreed work and provide the closeout information identified in the quotation. Additional conditions are documented before they change scope.

What affects recovery value and project cost.

Resale value and removal cost are separate questions. A valuable item may still require significant labour, while low-value items can dominate the clearance scope.

Brand and model

Commercial grade, identifiable product and replacement demand can affect the available route.

Condition

Wear, damage, missing parts, cleanliness and disassembly history affect reuse and resale feasibility.

Quantity

Matched groups may have different demand and handling economics than individual pieces.

Access

Elevators, loading areas, floor protection, parking, security and working-hour limits affect labour planning.

Timing

Short notice and fixed lease-exit dates can narrow recovery options and increase coordination requirements.

Market demand

No resale, donation or recycling outcome is guaranteed before the assets and available routes are reviewed.

Questions before a clearance project.

Does DEARTREE buy used office furniture?

Sometimes. A purchase or recovery-value proposal depends on brand, model, condition, quantity, location, access, timing and current market demand. Not every item has resale value.

Is office furniture removal free?

Removal is quoted by project. Recovery value may offset part of the work, while disassembly, labour, transport, access, recycling and other handling costs are assessed separately. Share furniture photos, quantities, location, access details and your deadline for an office clearance assessment.

Can you document where furniture goes?

If destination or outcome documentation is required, identify it before quotation. Available documentation depends on the confirmed route and must be included in the written scope.

Can you coordinate an office move and clearance together?

Yes. Reuse, reconfiguration, relocation, additions and clearance can be reviewed together so the old and new space are not planned as separate problems.

Can you work toward a lease-exit date?

Yes, subject to the confirmed scope, site access, building requirements, labour availability and the required completion date.

Services are quoted by project. Purchase, resale, donation, recycling, recovery value, destination reporting and completion dates are not guaranteed until the assets, site conditions, available routes and written scope are confirmed.

Know what stays, what moves and what leaves.

Send the project address, photographs or asset list, quantities, access information and target date. DEARTREE will help define the next practical step.
